prada marfa

Prada Marfa is an art installation in West Texas created by artists Elmgreen and Dragset.  Marfa is a famous arts town located northwest of Valentine, Texas off of US Route 90.  The installation was filled with a 2005 collection of Prada handbags and shoes (picked out and provided by Miuccia Prada herself) and the nonfunctional front door sealed shut.  The artists called the sculpture a "pop architectural land art project."  The work was introduced on October 1, 2005 and cost $80,000 to create.  Check out some of the gorgeous photos from a series by Maison Gray (what a fun spot to shoot - I must go someday!)...

Hopefully a future road trip will take me by this spot someday soon!
